I have a chance to buy a 1991 Ibanez SR 800 for $150. I used to have a '99 SR 885 and loved it to death, but that had the vari-mid pre in it. This one has an earlier pup set and a two band pre. Anyone out there who has played those older, pre vari-mid versions want to weigh in? I guess I just want to know what anyone thinks of the sound quality of the older 800's, esp compared to the second generation of them.
