Olinto flats - worth a punt?

Dope. Never tried the DTF Jamerson set but have tried the FS and FL. Great strings. Digging the Olinto flatwounds as well, which seems like a cross between DTFs in terms of tone mixed with LTF flexibility, despite the thicker gauges. They do feel pretty balanced.

Tried Olintos this weekend. I think the D string is too thick, especially next to the light A, and I think the D sounds the slightest bit less lively than the others. Real head scratcher that, why La Bella would assemble a set that feels so mismatched (to the left hand it almost feels like you’re playing 2 of the same string with a .068 D and .080 A. Otherwise, good sounding strings, fairly comfortable to play. Probably try 760FL next, or maybe go back to LTF set.

The Deep Talkins all have a brightness to them, even the thick 1954s, the FLs almost sound like roundwounds. I find the Olintos sound just right with minimal tone control adjustments.

I had a DT .065 in my strings stash (I think I measured it at .064 fwiw yes I am obsessed) and tried it with the Olintos. Like it better than the .068 Olinto D.

Definitely interested in trying the FL set now

The FL set is awesome. Very balanced from string to string, very comfortable to play, just enough tension to where you can still dig in if you want to.

Reviving this to see if folks had more time to test the Olintos, I'm curious about the reports of the set feeling unbalanced (thinner A?)

I'm trying to decide between the Olintos and the Labella 760FLs.

I use TIs in other bases but I want something a little less flexible and more thumpy. I have tried the Low Tension LTFs and they are a little too floppy and sound too "undefined"? They feel almost like tapewounds

the A feels a bit small compared to the E physically, but tonally i find the set very balanced. Nothing sounds too thumpy or bright relative to each other.

I find the FLs a bit light and bright. The Olintos feel and sound right.
