Olinto

Well I don’t know if you were talking to me but I never said anything about being the best...that’s for every individual to decide for themselves. To me they are amongst the very best I’ve played for my taste and experience.

Nah that's exactly the issue! So many reports of these different amazing basses being the best for the people that have bought them..how do you decide which one to pull the trigger on? Cause $3-4 k for a P bass is no joke...so you'd spend a lot of money going through all of them just to find the one.

And I cant think of a store that has that kind of selection.

Cme basement prob the most broad selection.

Like anything else you work towards or move towards to get the thing or situation you want.....it comes from gathering experiences over length of time...unless you are lucky. I like the saying that “you manufacture your own luck”. I’ve borrowed basses, got myself into Namm Shows, driven to many retailers and builders in the US to try out and compare hundreds of basses over time, had pro player get togethers, and yes I’ve bought many basses and sold many . How else do you want it to happen? Someone won’t just hand you the ultimate instrument for your hands and ears....

It takes some time, money, and effort. If you make a trip to NY, you can cover Olinto, Sadowsky, Fodera, NYBW, Pensa, Aguilar, vintage basses, and not too far is MTD. Right now I believe La Bella’s NYC guitar shop /showroom has all the brand instruments listed above hanging on the wall plus FBass and Mas Hino NYC.

Mitch is right, it takes a little work.. I've found over the years by listening to other players here on Talk Bass and fellow players I've met at NAMM, guitar shows, talked to over the phone, bought and sold basses and amps with... Also listening to samples on YouTube and other media... You learn who has similar "ears" as you and tastes as well.. I've also visited many shops and builders along the way... It's a lot of fun and something I enjoy..

Another shot of the Olinto in action.
