I had one for a few years. No one could tell the difference in the sound.

By 'no one', I mean non-bassists.

Great neck, light weight, my stock pup was LOUD. I sold it for a couple hundred bucks. I gigged with it a lot. No complaints.

i have an old MM3 and love it. the maple FB versions sound exponentially better than the newer rosewood versions. the amount of variance you get in tone from turning the pickup to either side is amazing.

no preamp necessary.
