on board 3 band pre amp vs external pre amp

I am getting back into bass and have purchased my Bass (spector euro 4lx) and amp (2008 20th anniversary redhead)

my bass has a Demeter 3 band on board and i am wondering how much benefit i would see to using an external pre amp as well..

will the difference be substantial?
will it be minimal? is it worth it to buy?

any and all opinions/tips are appreciated.

You should try to use as few preamps as possible in your signal chain. Each gain stage decreases the headroom and adds noise.

Between that and the pre on your Redhead, you should be good for pretty much anything.

I've found that having the EQ on the bass is much easier to deal with. I'm certain that there are some good preamps available that will give you as much or more flexibility, but I wouldn't want to deal with it

There is no need for an external preamp. You can already EQ with both your amp and your on board Demeter pre.
