NOt to start a flame war or anything, but being raised by hippies myself, and actually having lived at one point on a macrobiotic commune which raised sprouts, I prefer the "hippie" spelling to "hippy". But for $16k....
as an aside. Most young boys get busted by their parents with a playboy or a hustler. Hand wringing, tears etc. I got busted with a Soldier of Fortune magazine.

Ps what no comments about the phil jones T500 link? its a $10,000 tube bass amp with "silver wire for soaring highs and pure OFC copper for tight lows" I still want one. 650 tube watts!

On the subject of the Alembic, I just bought 2 basses: a Tribute by G&L L2000 and a Fender '51P RI, both natural finish (or an approximation, in the case of the Fender) with maple fbs, so I guess you wouldn't expect me to like the Alembic.

I don't. Too much stuff, too much tickytacky. Sure, there is the Taj Mahal, but nobody lives there. I like my basses to look like you could actually pick one up and play the Hokey Pokey on it.

For 16k he could at least spell hippy right.

Honestly for that scratch you can get not only a decent custom by another maker that isnt trapped in the 70's. But still have enough left for [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

The only thing more disgusting than asking $16,000 for a bass guitar would be watching some ****head actually pay $16,000 for a bass guitar.

i really like it actually, i think its really nice looking. i would pay thr 16000 bucks the guy wants for it (and i dont think anyone else will either haha) but i would definitly pay some seriuos cash for it if i had some. haha. i have it on my watch list just to see if anyway is actually going to bid on it.

I would say the workmanship, woods, and electronics make this bass worth $16k to a person that would have custom ordered it, assuming the features are exactly what they wanted. Unfortunately for the seller, this just isn't the kind of bass that somebody picks up off the shelf and goes, "this is it", and drops that kind of coin. To be fair, I'm sure it's stunning in person and plays and sounds incredible. Although, I think it's short at least one string and 2" of scale.

Well, I, for one, think its a really sexy looking bass. I dont think its worth 16k (I dont think any alembic is worth anything near what they charge for them), but Im not surprised about the price tag. His pictures are horrible, though. Dont use flash, idiot!

I think the STYLE that the guy uses to describe this BASS is a really good marketing TECHNIQUE by making the BUZZWORDS, or what he thinks they are, stand out to the READER.
