I was just running out to get a latte and hear "On the Beach" by Chris Ria on the car radio. There was some tasty fret-less playing on that track. A quick search lists "Eoghan O'Neill bass."
Anyone know anything else by this guy? and Eoghan, if you're on here, WELL DONE!
One of his regular gigs was with an Irish Folk/Rock/Whateverelsetheyfanciedatthetime band called Moving Hearts who's line up reads like a who's who of Contemporary Irish folk musicians. I saw them live once and it was the same buzz I got when I saw Miles. Very different music obviously, but so "right".
I'm not familiar with him. I've heard of Chris Rea....guy has been around since Jesus was a boy and had a couple of big hits a few decades back, "Fool if you think it's over" and "Workin' on It".
So 10+ years after this thread was started, a new generation of bass player (me!) stumbled upon Chris Rea's tune "Fool (If You Think It's Over)" this morning as it was playing on the radio, and I just love the bass line. Looking at the bass credits for the album it came off of, it seems that 4 session players were used, but I can't seem to determine which of those 4 played on that particular track. Anyone know? I'd love to hear more of his playing!
