So, I have a question. In my internet browsings, I often come upon things that would be of interest to the community. However, I don't link here because I don't want to be "that guy".
So today, i'm browsing my local CraigsList and see an ad for a 78 Fender P Fretless that is just gorgeous. I can tell by the pics that the guy has no idea what he's shooting. This guy is unlikely to put that bass up here in our forums. So, I'm thinking, I should make the community aware that this exists in case someone is looking for this bass. But, this is just some random Fender on Craigslist, not vetted, etc, and not necessarily the kind of guy you'd be assured of doing business with. On top of this, linking to it would create a situation where a transaction could happen outside of the community, and if it goes south...
So, what is the etiquette in situations like this? Is it ever proper to make the community aware of such deals that are not likely to appear within our classified market? If yes, where would one do so? If no, I agree with you.
