I'd like to have your thoughts about the impact of a single musician towards the all around feel of a performance.
Throughout the gigs I did in my career so far, there are always some when you feel it's not happenin' even if you're in the zone and doing everything, maybe even 125% more so to try and make everything get off. A lot of times I felt I was trying to pull a train all by myself. And I feel this is the case wether only the bass player tries hard, as well as the guitar player or keys.
I'm going out to see a lot of shows lately and experiencing the same thing from the other side, I have the feeling that if the drummer is really into it and giving the proper vibe, is in tune with the artist and gets well into nuances in his playing, everything jives even though, let's say, the bass player isn't getting it.
I think we'll agree that everything is better when all the band is in the zone but have you ever noticed this too or do you feel that no matter what musician, if he's in the zone for the whole band, he can make everything happen?
