Online lessons - video and written content

So I am trying to find some online lessons to help with my playing. The thing I am running into is that most of the ones I find are heavily video-based. There may be a small write-up below the video, but the majority of the content seems to be in the video. I'm looking for a resource that is mainly text-based, with specific exercises to follow, and maybe an accompanying video to show the exercise and list any major gotchas or common problems. Does such a lesson site/book exist?

before the internet there were things called books that sound like they may have been what you describe.

talkingbass.net has free pdf lessons (email sign up required)
and I believe the paid lessons include written components.

Best book on the market For what you are looking for by far is Ariane Cap’s Music Theory for the Bass Player. For about $30 on Amazon, you get a great foundation on theory, technique and groove creation. Read all the positive reviews and decide for yourself. GL!

The Tony Grey Bass Academy Book comes with a DVD to support the content. In addition, if I recall correctly, the video lessons via his online bass academy subscription site includes detailed PDF files with text explanation.
