Double Bass Online Metronome

Recently while teaching a lesson at the office I discovered that my 'nome battery was dead, so I googled "online metronome" and found This in about 2 seconds. It worked perfectly for the lesson, and now I use it often. Just thought I'd post this as a sort of interesting heads up, and ask if anyone has run across any online resources that play basic swing or latin patterns that can be adjusted for tempo. That could be useful for lessons.

If you are a pocket PC user, there is a free metronome available for download at download.com. It works well also, but doesn't get that loud. If you want to play over it at any volume, it can be touch.

This one has some subdivisions and enough control over the sounds, 30 day trial and ten shmooks to buy it. I like it, I just don't know if I want to part with my first communion money to buy it.

I designed it with Easter European folk music in mind, so my main priority was to have it be able to play any weird meter you want. The result is that you can set it to play a measure of any length you want, with emphasis on any beat(s) you want, with sounds chosen from a library of nearly fifty percussion instruments.

I also designed Weird Metronome to be compact and efficient. I stayed away from all the pretty buttons and displays that you'll see on other metronome software, because those just tent to make a confusing, unfamiliar interface that's too often painfully slow


On your online metronome, it can be used offline as well. Just open the site, File/Save page as, and save it to your desktop. Discard all files except metronome.swf, and click the swf any old time to get your met.

It doesn't appear to be OSX friendly. What application opens it on your machine?

On your online metronome, it can be used offline as well. Just open the site, File/Save page as, and save it to your desktop. Discard all files except metronome.swf, and click the swf any old time to get your met.

Windoze! To get a click on a Mac I believe you have to buy Pro Tools.

A friend of mine made one called the Honesty Metronome, which you can set to click once every 32 bars, or whatever you choose. If I find the link I'll put it up.

If you have an iPhone/iPod touch, go, nay, run and get the Visual Metronome. Only a few bucks. Not only will it do odd meters, but you can change the click sounds to highlight certain beats. Very friggin cool. Puts my $100 Dr. Beat to shame. *sigh*
