only in a thrift store could ive found this...

i was walking thru a thrift store about a week ago, just doing what most do at one which was looking for treasure out of someones donation. i had just watched a you tube video on how to fix a slightly twisted neck along the length of the fingerboard and onto the peghead. the guy used a couple of straight edges with a thick metal one he used to evenly distribute the heat in the repair. for heat he used a common clothes iron.
so there was this delicate fix and all of this heat spewing from his iron. well, in the thrift store shelves, i found what you see in the pictures: a 20171220_111008.jpg 20171220_110931.jpg perfectly sized and easily packed away travel iron that just spoke to me as a bassist and as a DIY kind of mind. Now, my neck isnt twisted, but the item was $1.99, so i had to grab it. what is really cool is that the handle unclips, and the iron piece slides into handle after it cools, and it has a little bag that it goes in, as well as a switch for voltage at 120v or 220v. who knows where ill be in a few years, but i wouldnt mind being a bass luthier. well, thats my story, and check out this lil' thing! but my most recent goal is to grab another Rickenbacker 4003 like the 1988 i had when i was 19. i paid $600 for it, case and all!me.and.my.red.rick.jpg i do love the Tobias Growler i have, which ive refinished and rewired, replaced MM style pickup as well as volume and blend pots, all brass ABM bridge, Grover tuners with sweet, low flatwounds. luv it!20171220_114508.jpg 20171221_083207-1-1.jpg
