Look ( and better-yet try out ) a Berg NV115. No tweeter, but a 6" midrange. Sealed. It might give you a sound that you like, and you don't see a lot of them out in the wild, so you would have a more-unique sound.

Not sure if you said it above, but as long as the cab's output level does not have to be ridiculous, it's something to look at IMHO. Good luck with your quest. ( and if you like it, buy 2, 'cause when 2 are stacked they REALLY kick... )

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] Personally, I'd call the number listed for the GC Florence store there and ask them if this cab is 4 or 8 ohm.

I'm just throwing this out there, because it could end up being an awesome deal. Biggest risk is having to pay for shipping if you don't keep it, but you'll be able to return it at a local guitar center if you don't like it or have any issues with it.

I snagged my used Avatar b410 @4 ohm for about the same price if not a little cheaper some years back and haven't felt a need to go cab shopping since.. I'm not saying it's the best cab in the world, I haven't really had opportunities to compare it next to anything else. But for $250? If the thing is functional, I'd say it could be difficult to find yourself unhappy with it. I think mine sounds great. But I also lucked out, the speakers, including the horn all work like they're supposed to. Only thing "wrong" with mine was the avatar logo was ripped off, and that didn't bother me.

I've never been in a situation where I need max volume from my 500w MoMark head. My current drummer, I maybe turn my volume to 9-10 o'clock to play with, but he's pretty quiet compared to the hard hitters that seem more common where I maybe end up between 1-3 o'clock. Standing about 3-5' in front of it when it's flat on the floor will give your ears a good example of the speakers range.

It is not the lightest cabinet in the world..but not the heaviest either. And the one I linked you seems to have casters installed.

*editing in more food for thought* - these things or their equivalent list @ $519 new at the avatar website, and the Deltalite II's are on sale for $539. Just kind of a personal experience thing, not a lot to choose from locally to try out in a music shop. My first set of cabinets were Markbass, new, and costly. The b410 is my second cabinet.. and gambling on a used cabinet for $250 afaic worked out in my favor, but I wouldn't blame anybody if they had their eye on some brand new Mesa Boogie cabs or something.

I couldn't agree more about Avatar quality. I have a 115, a 112, and a 210. Best bang for the buck out there and absolutely bullet-proof. And, at 69, I have no problem moving them about; a 410 would be manageable as well. At least for me.

I settled for now on the Casa Head with a Fender Bassman Neo 4x10 cabinet that I found used for 4 bills. I wished they matched cosmetically a bit more (nerdy) but it sounds great at least for my cats and I'm not worried about killing an underpowered cab. I won't need to push the limits with this 4x10.

I'm going to get to know the casa head a bit more before switching any cab stuff.

I do like the head and really like the EQ sweep and it loves my precision basses. I'm hearing more differences between my bass at huge volume which is fun till the neighbors call.

In my TC 15" combo my Mustang Bass hits a lot like a precision, but through the 4x10s even without the tweeter engaged - you can really hear the pick up differences more.

Thank you so much for weighing in. I think I did ok, but I will keep this thread bookmarked if I need to rethink anything.

I need to test the XLR line out a bit into an audio recorder to see if it is punchy or not too.

My fender studio bass combo (180w, some say 200w, all valve 6x6l6gc,7025,12au7,12at7, EVM15B) which I have been gigging and recording with for some years recently developed a fault.
I decided that after just about 45 years of pro (more recently semi pro ) playing I would do my back a favour and buy something more modern, I would also not have that will it won't it feeling every time I switched it on.
I had already decided to buy a barefaced cab, if the hype was even half true I would be very pleased.
I had recently been to a snarky puppy gig and saw that the bass player was using a markbass casa.
I liked the sound so took a chance on one of these (14 day no question returns, thanks andertons). My go to bass is a 1974 fender jazz, rosewood.
Straight into my first gig with it, didn't even try it out at home.
All I can say is wow!.
Every thing on half (as duane allman used to say) I was amazed. Had to roll off a bit of bass (and turn the master down) but otherwise superb.
I know this thread is about markbass, I will come to that soon. The barefaced cab, a big baby 2 gen 3 is a tour de force.
The efficiency, dispersion, light weight, size, tone (or perhaps transparency) are incredible. I am not easily impressed having played through any number of iconic amp and cab combinations over the years. My bandmates were even more impressed than me.
This is the important point. The barefaced cab is known to be transparent. In other words it doesn't colour the sound. What you put into it is what you hear, all over the stage and throughout the room.
So, I know how my bass sounds (after 35 years ) , the cab is transparent, garbage in, garbage out.
We are left with the markbass casa. Great sound, warm, clear and, it seems to me, a little of that "squash" (perhaps subtle compression when you dig in ) of many legendary valve amps. Combined with effortless headroom, weighs nothing, hopefully solid state reliability, I am one happy bunny.
All I can say is that if you want a solid state amp which sounds very similar to some valve amp, loads of spare power, light weight, good, versatile but simple e.q. the markbass casa does it. I can't comment on "grind" (don't know what it is) and I have generally tried to avoid distortion, I'm not a lead guitarist.
To summarise the casa seems like a really good amp if a little expensive but then i'm over sixty, if not now, when?.

Kevin - I feel ya on the cosmetic match part. That was what drove me to go to great lengths to get the Casa 104 cab. Looks and sounds fantastic with the Casa head. Best rig I've owned for the tone I want. The Casa tone paired with the sealed Casa 104 cab is old school bass tone heaven to my ears.

For your situation my vote goes for a Mesa-Boogie Subway 115. Better yet, a pair of them.

I'm a combo guy, but if I was considering separates, I'd seriously check these out. LOT's of love for these cabs here on TB..
