There needs to be a connection between the shielding and the output jack ground. The Jazz Shielding Pictorial thread that’s pinned at the top of this forum should cover it. That will help with the noise if it’s not grounded. Ungrounded shielding is a big noise antenna. If you have a multimeter you could read ohms or continuity from the shielding to the output jack sleeve terminal although if the jack is in the pickguard and it completes ground by the back of the pickguard touching the cavity shield that’s a little tougher.
