Ooops! I did it again! New bass!

This also explains the erodyne basses, somewhat. Take a cool, succesful, but not saleable en-mass instrument like the affirma, and make a mass market version of it. Sadly they failed to make erodynes sound truly great. Even cheapo SR 300 entry level basses can sound awesome, where the erodynes are.... unique, I guess from what my limited experience has demonstrated to me.

But this, this bass seems like the real deal!

The appropriate response is “congrats” or just don’t reply.

That's interesting.

Bass quality/design/tone aside, "AFFIRMA" is the absolute worst name I have ever heard applied to an instrument.

"AFFIRMA" sounds like a damn 80's Nissan minivan.

"Come test drive the '86 Nissan Affirma! Affirm your aspirations!" or something lame like that.
It sounds very modern corporate, but for a drug testing lab. Or a joke name for a financial/legal services company that hides the word Firm as used by employees, (not the band) and "a" being the first of many firms.
But how would you do making a Japanese product name? fagetaboudit

does this bass have the gary willis boat ramp ? you gotta have a light touch for those ramps.
My Ibanez is a 5 string with 1.85 nut width. The nut width on the 4 strings is 1.5...now at first you think Jazz bass. However the neck isnt thick like a J Bass. It is like 19mm front to back of the neck and I just found it to be very difficult to play. Gotta curl your fingers in ways that my hands cant handle. Overall it felt slick and fast, but just to small for my taste.

I bought an old early Ibanez Ergodyne with the luthite body that came with a nice Gator case a few years ago. It’s a well made (Cort) bass with a wonderful neck and is very comfortable to play. But it sounds just “meh.” I was going to put it on CL before the pandemic but haven’t done that yet. Instead, I put a set of SIT Power Steels on it and it’s much better. I’ll keep it if I end up playing it more now.

I just ordered a new Ibanez Affirma bass to help ease the isolation. Pics to follow.
Congrats!
