I've been looking for a new tone lately, and watching/listening to Queen songs/vids greatly influenced that taste in tone. I noticed that on the songs where I particularly dig the bass lines, Queen's bassist seems to be playing a stingray (or is it a sterling?).

Thing is, I've tried a MM Sub (shop guy told me it should be roughly the same as sterling and stingrays) but I really didnt dig the sound/playability of it then.

The MM tone seems to be exactly what I'm looking for though, but unfortunately, it seems musicman basses arent doing it playability wise (I'm more of a jazz bass neck man it seems).

What do you guys think comes closest to the MM sound and tone with a jazz neck? Is that even possible?

That's one of the main differences between StingRays and Sterlings:

StingRay: 1-5/8" at nut, 2-1/2" at last fret (21).

Sterling: 1-1/2" at nut, 2-1/2" at last fret (22).

I think you should try a Sterling. MMs are excellent instruments.
