So my current rig is a SVT -VR into a svt15e&svt210 classic cabs.
Came across this ad this morning seems like a decent price what are your opinions on the sound of this cab compared to a stock svt15e?

For sale is a bass cabinet that I had custom built by Bruce Michielli at Fliptops in Buffalo, NY. It is loaded with an Eminence Kappa 15", rated at 450 watts (4 ohm). I had Bruce make it 28" wide so that it can accommodate a V-4B; it is also beefy enough to handle an SVT. 70s vinyl tolex with side handles, and a silver grill cloth complete with a vintage Ampeg metal A logo. Comes with a removable caster cart and a vinyl dust cover. It has spent most of its life in my house and it is in excellent shape.

Dimensions - 28" wide, 16" deep, 26" high (without the caster cart).

$300, cash only FIRM. I paid over $600 for this.

Not sure what the materials used are but I was under the assumption that flip tops make a quality cabinet and they were the Ampeg experts.

I don't really care for the sound of my existing svt15e (fatry ) and I was more wondering if this would be a big upgrade in sound

Find some Ampeg Threads and fans and see if you can get some of them to chime in. There is a huge community of them.

No Ampeg love here from this poster. Not impressed over all. A friend, Andy Fuchs, was doing all of the Sam Ash Service work for and got every Ampeg sent to him from the Sting Tour.

His custom boutique Bruiser amps are based off them. but despite friendship there is still no real interest in the design over here.

Well if its local, you can always test drive it and compare it to you other options.

The Kappa only goes to 2.3k for the highs, so no, it's not a better driver than what comes stock in the Ampeg SVT 15e unless you like super dark speakers. That said, Fliptops does do pretty good work. I have one of their B-15 cabs, and it's not a work of art like my Vintage Blue cab, but it's functional and well built.
