i played a jazz for years, and used a P bass for several years as part of a jazz group. when i picked up my stingray 5, it was magic.
i'm a big fan of the 3 band eq. my bass is a single bucker version, and i think it's super versatile. between the pickup switch and the eq, i can get a ton of tones out of it. i love the punch and growl. the neck is gorgeous, the balance is excellent.
i've played a lot of basses since picking up my ray, but none of them have instilled the kind of wow factor that the ray still brings to the table for me. i love that bass.
my jazz is a 4 string, and it was my first instrument, so it's not going anywhere, but it's my practice at home, backup just-in-case bass, now. for gigs or studio work, it's the stingray.
