Opinions on Frankenstein Basses

judging by MIM basses that I tried in the stores, my Franken P-bass (MIM P body and MIM J neck) is still a MIM bass with upgraded components and a much better setup. I think like with any other bass there are 2 parts to it:.

1 - do you want to resell it in the future without making a loss? (may or may not happen)
2 - do you like the sound and don't care about where it was assembled?

It's all about the priorities.

I have the opportunity to pick up a Frankenstein bass tomorrow. It's an American P/J body, Warmoth Custom Neck (aged pearl block inlays), EMG Victor Wooten PAXJVX pu's, US Hipshot tuners with drop D. The seller is asking $350.

So here's my question: What's your success been with mutts like this? I don't have extra cash very often, and would like to have a second cheaper bass. My main guitar is a Fender AVRI 63 P.

Unless the previous owner did some really jack-legged installation work,you have a Fender body with a neck upgrade. The EMGs can be sold, likely for enough cash to buy some single coil pups if you don't like them.

Here she is. I picked her up this morning. Needed a bit of a set up but other than that everything is awesome! I'm thinking about adding a gold anodized pickguard and bridge and pick up covers. The low E Hipshot tuner could be a bit flaky, but I'll put her through the paces tonight to find out.

The neck is a Fender Licensed Warmoth. It says Fender Precision Bass.

I dubbed this bass "Sex Machine". It's just a clear label made with a label maker
