New member here. I've been playing/learning for about 4 months. I have an entry level Yamaha TRBX174 and have no complaints with it. Really like it actually but what do I know anyways...I'm new. Saw this 1994 Epiphone for sale locally. They are asking $155. Looks pretty but can"t seem to find any info on it. Opinions?

Looks decent enough- Much like a Jackson. Probably nothing that amazing though- if you're happy with your bass at the moment then I'd probably just leave it. Wait until you feel like you actually need something more before going out and looking for it.
I know it's kinda boring advice, but there's no point in buying a new bass that might not really be that suited to what you end up playing just because it's a new bass. I've wasted a lot of money on gear that I didn't really need, and now I want money for gear I do need (or at least think I do). Keep your money for now, I'd say.

Your yammy is a better bass. Hang onto it.

Had a similar one (not sure what year). Got it at a pawn shop for $99 and it was almost worth that.

That being said, that Epiphone is a "Power Bass". You can check reverb or eBay to see if that price is a good deal.

I still say stick with the Yamaha. I'd be willing to bet good money it's a much more well built bass than that epi.
+1. I would rather have a circa 2016 budget-level PJ bass than a circa 1994 one.
I would say the Epiphone badge is a moot point, as there is nothing Gibson/Epiphone 'family' about the design, and the OEM was probably Samick or similar. Nothing inherently wrong with the design, but the price will be jacked because of the Epiphone bass, whereas it is just another PJ bass with, currently deeply unfashionable, '80s metal aesthetics.

If this bass is in good shape and works well, $155, is a very fair price. It looks like a great bass to me. I have played one of these basses in the past, and I liked it. I am into the 80"s head stock, others may not feel the same way. You will meet up with strong opinions here on Talk Bass. It is important to balance what you read here.
Your Yamaha TRBX174 is also a very very good bass. Don't underestimate it's potential. I have a large bass collection, but choose to use a Yamaha like yours while at one of my rehearsal spaces. It's neck is incredibly similar to a 1963 Jazz Bass.

if she feels good, sounds good to your ears and your happy playing her... i'd say take it
