Opinions: Roland Micro Cube Bass RX

I really, REALLY want to get one of these, but they just don't seem like a good value. At $229, this is actually *more* than I paid for my Roland Cube 30 Bass amp 3 years ago.

What's your opinion on the Invalid Link Removed? I played one at GC about 6 months ago, and I really liked it for what it was: a battery powered, practice bass amp. If it were $150, I'd be all over it.

The guitar ones are a little ball of bedroom fun. Never messed with the bass one. I tried once, but it wasn't plugged in.

Thanks, I've read all the reviews I can get my hands on. Just looking for some first-hand anecdotes.

My 2 boys want to do some busking at the Seattle Center this summer (they're 9 and 11). I have a Roland Micro Cube for the guitarist, but we need something for the bass player. Whatever I get for the bass *MUST* be battery operated. That doesn't leave me with many options.

Some folks have suggested an inexpensive PA system that could double as a bass amp. Sounds great on paper, but I haven't been able to track down something that would work.

Ideally, I'd have a Roland Street Cube (2 channel: voice + guitar) and a Roland Micro Cube Bass RX. But that would run me $500. The boys would have to do A LOT of busking just to break even!

There aren't many options, might as well pony up and get one. Unless you can find an old Pignose, but even that seems unlikely.

I really like mine, pretty loud, nice tone, plenty of effects/amp models, built in tuner is nice too.

Yeah, I dig mine too - small, portable, enough volume to keep up with someone bashing the crap out of an acoustic guitar. I imagine it'd be fine for busking.

They are a bit pricey, but it had everything I was looking for at the time - battery-operated, tuner, drum machine, effects - so I figure it was worth it.

Definitely easier than dragging my big rig around to barbecues for impromptu jam sessions

Yeah, I'm thinking that if the Micro Cube Bass RX is on par with my trusty Micro Cube, I'll be happy...even if I have to overspend by $50 or $70. Maybe I'll get lucky finding a used one: back in January, someone on HC was selling one for $150.

For busking @ the Seattle Center during Bumbershoot in September, a Micro Cube and a Micro Cube Bass RX will fit the ticket. Now I just need to track down a battery-powered PA...
