Opinions Wanted: Extension Cabinet

Hi there, I need some help.

First off, I did read the amp FAQ sticky, but still could use some simple advice. Let's just say I don't quite grasp the impedance thing as much as I could.



I have an Ampeg B2-48 combo amp that I picked up used, with no owner's manual. It has 4 x 8" speakers plus a small horn. I would like to add another cab to get a little more bottom end, but am at a loss in terms of whether my combo can handle a second cab or not. Ideally, I would like to add a single 15" cab.

The back of the combo says:

200 watts @ 8 ohms
350 watts @ 4 ohms

Could anyone share some insights as to what I could do with my current combo?

the best cab would be an identical ampeg 4x8. but im not sure if such a cab exists. the 15 should be fine. mixing driver sizes and running them all full range can cause some issues, but its not that big of a deal for most people. since the amp shows power ratings at 4 ohms and 8 ohms, i would assume that your current speakers are a total of 8 ohms. so if you add an 8 ohm cabinet it should bring you up to 350 watts @4ohms. hopefully someone who is more familiar with this particular amp can chime in to confirm.
