Gotcha... In that case I'd find a rippin' 2x10 to pair with the TB500 head. You can put the TB500 in a backpack and carry most 2x10s with one hand. The TB500 also comes w/ its own carrying case if you'd rather do that.

Isobaric also gives you a messy bit in the mids/highs from the speakers being out of phase by the distance between them.

The Iso design compensates for the limits of a small cab by adding a second driver. So pretty much you are reducing the output with a small cab, then to make up for that lack you add a second speaker. Pretty expensive way to get a small cab in my opinion. You can attain the same sound and output with a single driver in a larger box.

For me, pairing an orange TB500 (used) with a more capable cab is the way to go. greenboy Bassic15, fEARless F115, fEARful 15/6.

Im sure there are a lot of other cabs that other people have preference to as well. Some of the top contenders in my mind are as follows.

Agreed. I have an Orange TB500 head paired with a FEearful 15/6/1. Very light and incredible sounding. I bought both used on TB and spent $1000 for the whole setup. The head is incredible, but you can find much better and lighter cabinets.

Big +1. Use mine mainly with a single Faital 15, but lately have using my Markbass NY122 2 x 12 and it just slams.

Dont think ive ever owned an amp i like more.

I was a dedicated Mesa guy for years. The TB destroys the Carbine in nearly every way. I only wish it had a separate DI out volume.

For that price you could get your choice of a number of Kings among bass amp heads and a high end cab to taste. I'd pass! or go head/cab... pretty sure it will cost less.

I'd put it on top of a Markbass NY121 or a NY 151. I have the 151 and boy, that thing is loud and light. I have a MB 800 head going out of it and it is great. I've played an Orange Bass Terror through it at GC. I liked it a lot.

This is what I was going to say. You could use that money for a car and find a good deal on a good rig for a lot less. But if a car is not needed and this is the amp for you get it.

Isobaric design in a bass cab=inefficient, unnecessarily expensive way to make an old and largely abandoned concept sound like innovation. You get the output and tuning of a good 112 cab in a smaller box. In exchange, you not only get to pay for a 2nd driver, but carry it as well.

The bit you double in isobaric is motor power. So the better driver bit is are driver with a stronger motor.

I can care less about the actual design, this little guy has an awesome old school tone and is easy to move around.

A cheaper option might be the used head/cab route.

Its not the sound, its the expense of the design. Its -3db compared to a normal 212 in sensitivity, it weighs more than other designs that achieve the same SPL out put, it weighs more than other designs that achieve the same SPL.

You can get the same sound from a properly designed 112 enclosure.

The point is, why pay for the extra driver, gain the added weight, and loose the sensitivity, just so you can have a slightly smaller box?

Know what's easier to move around, and sounds the same? A 1x12. The whole one speaker instead of two has some serious luggability benefits. If you really want another driver that you can't hear, you can buy two, and put the other one in another room with the door closed, but still feed it power from your amp.

Big fan of Orange bass heads here. I own a TB500 and was thinking of getting the SP212 before my TB500 purchase.

I decided to go with another cabinet maker that offered 2-12 Faitals in a small lightweight enclosure. One is front facing the other is down facing.

Love the sound, the power, and the tone these two products create when mated. I carry my complete rig and bass into a hall in one trip. Head over my shoulder in it's padded bag, the Glasstone in my left hand and my Bass in my right hand.

There are better cabinet choices than what the SP212 offers.

I think people are missing the point. Whatever you think of isobaric cabs, the SP212 sounds awesome! That is all! On top of that, it looks sexy as hell. And, while it may be theoretically possible to get a 1x12 in a larger cab to sound the same, the point is that there aren't any other cabs on the market which do sound the same!

Yup, it sounds good and looks sexy. I haven't heard all the other cabs on the market so I don't know whether another offers the same tone.
