Orange OBC 115 Thoughts

I'm really new to bass cabs/heads and was wondering if the Orange OBC 115 Cabinet would be a good purchase? Opinions? I'm able to get it for 500$ usually priced at 660$.

If so what would be a good head to go with it preferably something under 500.

Background Info: I'm in a pretty active band and play multiple gigs per week the venues are average size and every now and then I play outdoors at festivals/parks. Based on this knowledge would this cab be a good purchase?

I'm pretty sure this cab has no horn can anybody confirm? I like to play in the higher freq on my bass (esp-ltd 5 string) and am concerned I won't get clear high end tone without a horn. Thoughts?

I plan on buying this 1x15 cab and combining it with 1 or 2 more speakers in the future. I'm tight on money so I can't buy it all at once. Musician probs haha
Let me know what you guys think!

Ryan

As far as 15s go the OBC is a great choice. I wouldn't be too concerned about the lack of horn unless you like a sparkly or grindy top end. Your high notes will still punch through fine but won't have that ticky top end.... a good thing in my book. If you're a slapper you might be disappointed.

However....a single 15 is not going to give you a huge amount of volume. If you are playing outdoors with a loud band you might struggle. Personally I would recommend a 410 over a 115 cab as a single cab solution.

I own a OCB 115 and can tell you that it has a well built box and that's the only good thing about it. The Tolex is very thin and rips and tears easily, the speaker is a Kappa 15A, nothing special, the box has no insulation from the factory. It would be a good cab at $350 new but for what they charge you can do a lot better for the money.
It doesn't have a horn.

If you want a nice 15 with a horn, try to find a Hartke Hydrive 15. You can find them used for what that OCB costs.
But it sounds like a nice used 410 would suit you better

Cost on the OBC115 on the used market isn't too bad vs buying new. IMO, OBC115 is a pretty good cabinet for construction and tone. If I had my way, I would kick my OBC410 to the side for 2 OBC115's.

Also, there are tons of information on this cabinet posted here. Tom B. gives it good reviews.
