Orange Tb500c vs Ampeg Ba300/210

Hi i Need some help .

Im currently split between these two combos.

I love both the orange sound and the ampeg sound.

There Is more features in the ampeg in shaping the sound. But i do love the orange combo

My question is : Is there a way for me to shape the orange sound more? At times i would like to have more of the ampeg sounds.

Those particular Ampeg Combos(BA300/BA600) had quite a few problems with them and never really became sought after. IMO the less expensive BA112/BA115 sound better, and are more reliable. I don't have much experience with Orange. Go out and play them, pick which sounds best to you.

You won't get the Orange to sound like an Ampeg. I'm sure you didn't mean literally, more so in a similar realm, but even that probably won't happen. Orange have never been about offering powerful tone shaping/altering tools (yeah, you can boost/cut bass-mid-treble, but the effect isn't as dramatic as other amps), you have to really dig their sound and find it useable for all of your needs if it's going to be your main/go-to amp. I personally dig it.

That being said, if you gotta have both sounds, I'd get the Orange amp and a Tech 21 VT Bass for when you want an ampeg-ish, more flexible tone. The Orange is probably a higher quality amp ((the BA 300/210 has well documented issues, or maybe that was the 600/210...)) and the VT Bass will sound more like an ampeg SVT than the BA combo series IMO.

First, you cannot equate volume with watts. Unrelated. It's all about the speakers. IF the Orange combo is capable of adding an ext spkr cab, go with that. Adding a 2nd cab will get more volume, more wattage will do very little. The Ampeg combo's CANNOT add on more spkrs.

There are a lot of combos that are FAR better for $1500. Markbass and Genz Benz come immediately to mind. If you are going to drop that kind of cash, do some research. There is a ton of information on Talkbass. You just need to do a search!

Ill be getting the combo for a little bit more than i would get Ampeg PF-500 & PF210HE for

I was gona go for markbass but Im in love with the orange sound, only thing is that even though i dont cheat my wife i would like to have the option to cheat my orange combo from time to time.

Had the exact same predicament not too long ago. Bought the PF first, ended up selling it for the Orange. Not to say the PF's aren't great amps, but the Terror Bass just has that growl and moves the low end so lovely.

hiho,I hope you won,t be dissapointed.
I bought the head and 2x 12 cab last saturday and have gigged it twice now.
Wow is the only word and that,s just not me.
I,ve had loads of comments about my bass sound being so good and huge.
I can,t believe how good these amps and cabs sound in the real world.
Who cares about the physics of isobaric cabs-this package works and you maybe can get louder cabs but what,s the point if it sounds so good-job done.
