Orange Terror Bass - Discontinued?

I just bought a used TB500.
This thing is incredible.
Mind you it only does one thing really, but it happens to be exactly what our band needs...
But the size, tone and volume it puts out just blows me away...
I've heard of reliability issues, but condisering how much this thing kicks ass it's sad they couldn't just work out the issues.

Well, if the Terror Bass 1000 amps are being dropped, then nobody told John McVie. He just signed on with them and got 4 of them. Wow, think that's loud enough? I've never even cranked mine, and couldn't imagine running 4 of them (I"m sure there's probably some for back up, though,) but then again I'm not playing in huge arenas. I wouldn't mine that whole rig.

One never really knows what is going on behind the scenes. Perhaps the Class D power section of their Terror series was a licensed design from some audio/engineering company and their license period was up, cost too much to renew, who knows?

I bought a factory refurb TB1000 for around $800~900 from an authorized dealer last year. It didn't have those problematic caps, or hopefully anything else that was an issue. I contacted Orange about it before I bought it, has full warranty. So far, it roars.

Love Orange when it comes to guitar amps. (Own a few of those.) Feeling far less love when it comes to their bass offerings despite my desperately wanting to. The Terror left me very unimpressed. Awful lot of money for little more than "just loud" every time I tried them. IMO Ampeg and GK give you so much more of…everything…for the same (or less) money in the hi-power but easily transportable bass amp category, that I couldn't see my way clear to ever getting a Bass Terror. YMMV.

I only paid $360 for mine as a "scratch and dent" deal from AMS, so I can't complain about the price. The only thing wrong with it was the box was banged up that it was shipped in. The amp itself was in new condition and so far, no issues. I don't know why they sold it that cheap, but I never saw another one that cheap again, "scratch and dent" or not. I wasn't even planing on buying one or an amp at the time, since I have a Fender Rumble 350 combo that was doing me pretty good. But hey, I couldn't pass that up. Besides, it's good to have an extra amp or two, anyway. You never know when you might need them.

Well I'm not really pleased about this news as I was looking at picking one of those up. I'm all for class D designs these days and the lighter weight cabs everyone is coming out with. I for one am not looking to go backwards and this seems a step in that direction to me.
