I didn't read the whole thread so I don't know if these have been mentioned, but I highly recommend Cinematic Studio Strings and the strings from Performances Samples. After those, I'd go for VSL's libraries--VSL even let's you get a refund if you don't like their products.

If you need more info or opinions on other libraries let me know. This is my profession and I own or have used most Orchestral libraries available.
