Ordering T-bird with a diffrent neck?

most unlikely... you're probably better of buying both, switching the neck and sell the goth with the epi-standard neck.. IF they would sell you a bass configured like that you'll probably end up paying more $$$
Nope. They make them that way for a reason, any deviance from that slows down production and at that price point, money comes from quantity. You cut that down, you raise prices.

I have the 'burst and I love the neck, although i never played the goth. I dont think there would be a difference though
I think he wanted it just for the look. As far as the neck, I think they are identical as far as playability.
The Goth has an all Satin finish (EEEWWWWW) I believe, including the neck. I played one at guitar center recently but I forgot if the neck was satin as well. I didn't play it long as there was a Pudulla Buzz 5 flashing me on the wall...
The neck is maple, dark, but not flat black like the rest of the guitar.
I am a weird one when it comes to color. I am picking up a goth T-Bird next month. I am not a big fan of of the natural finish or the sunburst/honeyburst/fireburst finishes that a lot of the basses are coming with. I love the T-bird, the way it plays, the way it sounds and just the way it feels in my hands but didn't like the finish options. Even the black turned me off with the white pick guard. The Goth however is what made me decide that I would finally add one to the family.

How can you noty love the 'burst? That bass, not any specific bassist was the reason i bought a bass. I thought it looked so cool I wanted one. I didn't actually have much interest in playing a lot. Just as a "look I have this and I can kinda play it" thing. I know shame on me, but once I started playing it i got addicted.rallykid said:

I did the exact same thing, I thought it looked cool, I wanted it, bought it, and learned to play. But for me it was a black Ibanez EXB 404. Sharp edged, very pointy and wicked looking. I think that is the one that turned me on to solid colors. Don't get me wrong, that is a beautiful T-bird you have and I like the look of that one in particular (a lot darker in that pic than most I have seen) , but for me, it is just not my style with that finish.
I am the same with Fenders, I love the sound of the P and J, I love the way they play and feel but I refuse to buy one as I hate the way they look with a pickguard. That is why I am keeping my eye out for a black or white 80's Jazz Bass Special, the ones that came with no PG. Like I said, I am the oddball when it comes to colors and minor preferences.

I LOOOOOVE the vintage t-birds.. especially the burst (the epis don't really have the same beautiful burst).. but the pelham blue, the cardinal red, the white and the black are even more amazing.. but incredibly rare.. anyway..
the satin black epi is kinda cool.. but if i wanted one of those i'd get the blackbird instead..
but a refinished one can look hot aswell.. i just bought this one which i consider to be a real hottie:

i don't want to start another thread, but i've been wanting the burst t-bird. and i was wondering how good was the playability. i played a gibson one at a GC, it was nice, so is it the same as the gibson? i never got to plug it into an amp, how's it sound? and is it good for me if i normally play p's and j's?
You need to go back and play it through an amp, Thunderbirds are love or hate basses (as most on here should know, I'm a HUGE Tbird enthusiast).
IME, the Epi's are great basses and come very close to the Gibsons in sound, but lack that extra "umph" and "thunder" that the Gibson's have. I think's it's the Gibson pickups, they are massive.

I love everything about my T-bird, sound included. Mind you its an Epi and I bought it used on Ebay. For around $350 or so I got a heck of a deal. I agree they are a love or hate bass because most of my bassist friends that have played it loved it except one thought it was a total piece of garbage. I still love it.
