Output jack not grounded in MIA.. should i be worried?

So I went to an install a push/pull series/parallel pot into my new MIA jazz bass the other day to find that the output jack wasnt grounded. I've read in some places that anything mounted to a metal control plate dont need to be grounded together (no black wire connecting all the pot cases because the plate is essentially doing that). However some other places have stated that you still need them all to be connected.

Should i ground the output jack (as well as connect all the pot cases) or will it be fine just the way it is (in regards to noise)?

If the jack is metal, and mounted on a metal plate, everything connected to the plate is also connected to the ground of the jack.

Yeah, I know it looks weird, but it's OK.

From an economic and manufacturing efficiency standpoint, there is no incentive for anyone to ground jacks on Jazz basses, and that's why no one does.

Some people, however, prefer proper soldered joints in place of mechanical connections.

If it bothers you, ground it with a soldered connection, otherwise leave it alone.

it is indeed grounded through the plate, but were it mine i would run an actual soldered ground wire so that if it ever came loose it would just be one problem instead of two.

actually, this is how i like to do it these days (photo lifted from a terry mcinturff guitar):

the solid core romex house wire keeps the components from moving around even if they did come loose.
