Overdrive with Fender Nylon Tapewounds?

I've been wanting to try a set of Fender's Nylon Tapewound strings on my PJ but I'm not sure how they'll sound through effects. Has anyone who's tried these strings comment on how they cope with overdrives and fuzzes? Also, will I be getting an almighty hum when I solo the J pickup due to grounding issues?
