I'm looking to possibly get a bass overdrive in the near future. So I've heard some clips of the Darkglass BK7 and absolutely loved that tone, but cringed when I saw the pricetag. Is there anything out there that will give a similar tone to the darkglass (so probably something tube driven??), but not be so expensive?

Do you need the DI and EQ of the B7K? I have a B3K and don't miss the EQ options, I like to fiddle with onboard EQ on the fly. Not much compares to the B3K IMO and tube based ODs I've messed with tend to be a bit warmer and darker sounding and honestly I'm to sure how much a single tube does for the tone.
Most pedals I've tried do either tubey overdrive or are straight up distortion. The B3K lives somewhere in the middle and adds a really aggressive character to your sound. It pretty much kills.

The Way Huge Pork Loin gets a lot of love around here. I love mine. It's really versatile, the clean blend is great. It can be subtle, or you can crank it and get a bright clanky grind.
Tech 21 NYC also just re-re-released their original signature pedal. Not sure of the street price, but I've had my original one for years and it sounds absolutely sick. Very versatile, and to my ears, tubey with the best of them in a tiny, all-analog package built for abuse.
Hardwire CM-2 Tube Overdrive. $99 new. $60-ish in the Emporium. You simply won't do better for the price. No way. True bypass, tons of headroom, two different voices, bass control, treble control...awesomeness.
Tried a bunch of them, liked this one the best. Way Huge Green Rhino is great too, just liked the Hardwire a little better. Either one would be fine. Pork Loin was too fizzy for me.

I have a BBE Green Screamer that actually sounds pretty cool with bass. Electro-Harmonix makes the LPB 2ube preamp. its stereo and you can run the two channels in series and get a pretty good overdriven tone with that as well. its sounds really good. it uses two 12ax7 tubes. the green screamer is based closed to the old Ibanez ts-808
