Oxford Nitro Finish Issues

Hey guys, I began having sudden and dramatic spitting with a can of Oxford Candy Apple Red. Even after clearing the cap multiple times. Not sure what the issue is but it seems to be something with the cap. Couldn't find anything online about it so now im here. Replace the cap with something random?
Also, as a dumb fix I simply got a acetone wipe and wipes the spots where paint spit landed. Not 100% that was smart. Plan is to melt further coats in... (hope thats not too stupid) and felt like I had nothing to loose because if it doesn't work, ill just return to sanding off regardless.

Ugh that sucks - my own experience was that they sprayed smoothly. I'd probably take the cap off and soak it in solvent to ensure it's clean, then let it air dry. I'd also recommend warming the can up in a bowl of warm water before spraying, even if ambient temps are relatively high. In a worst case scenario, I've turned a can upside down, vented out the propellant, punched a hole near the bottom, drained out the paint into a cup and put it in a spray gun to finish it off. I've not done that with Oxford, but have with other paints. Sorry you're dealing with that, been there, done got annoyed by it. :)

Haha yea annoying and I think I actually found the issue was my glove extending slightly over the tip...
Acetone to remove the high spot worked at just that. But then respraying seems to result in an uneven tint wherever I wiped it with acetone. Current plan is to try one more coat tomorrow and if that doesn't hide it, ill strip it all and start again. Oh well. Live and learn.

If the Oxford candy apple red is actually a candy color it’s a somewhat tinted clear that the base color is meant to be seen through. In the case of candy apple colors the base is traditionally gold that the midcoats tint or color so to speak so it’s not surprising any difference in coat thickness are visible. Additional coats may help but will also darken the red tint over the gold.

I’ve sprayed Createx candies over silver or gold and take extra caution to try and keep coats even including more then typical overlap on passes.
