P-Bass (Copies) for under $2,500

I know this has been done to death, but I'm looking at a P-bass copy within a certain price range. When I do a search, I get the usual: Sadowsky, Lakland, Valenti, Lull, and Nordstrand. I have no problems with any of these, I'm just curious as to see what else is out there. I was dead set on getting a Dingwall Afterburner, but recently I realized how much I need a P-bass in my arsenal. Both my amp and pedals are calling for one badly.

Now, before anyone says anything, I am not opposed to getting a Fender. If I go with Fender, it'd probably be an American Vintage. I just don't feel like waiting for the right one to pop up on here or ebay, when I can get a brand new custom from another company (which is just more appealing to me).

A lot of companies don't list their prices so the only one I can think of in that range is a Lakland Skyline model, which is around $1,400.

I will say I love my Lakland Bob Glaub. But if you are looking for something maybe check out atkinson basses.
Owner is quite active here and many dig his instruments, I've never had the pleasure of playing one. If i was after a custom p bass I would seriously consider talking to Dan Atkinson. His prices seem extremely reasonable for the look of the work.

If I get one before Sheldon puts out a Super P, I'll just have to have two P-basses.

Right now I'm looking at Lakland Skyline, Atkinson (still researching), Fender '50s Precision, and Valenti (researching price range), providing I go new and don't score a nice used bass.

I looked through that whole list, and Ibanez still has the most aesthetically pleasing basses (in my eyes).

John will make an awesome P bass, but I don't know if that would be under $2500. I agree with whoever said Warmoth.

My experience with the afterburner series: They won't sound exactly like a p-bass... But the p-bass won't come close to playing like the afterburner
