p bass fender only?

Like P-bass, don't like Fender?
Seems like an odd contradiction.....
Buy a Squier vintage modified series and pretend it has no connection to Fender.
Yea, I don't understand the correlation with wanting a p bass and vintage styling but not a fender brand? They made the p bass..can get anymore vintage looking and sounding than a fender.
well i had a samick p bass that i had to get rid of,i loved it, i did so much work on it and even got some quarter pounder pick ups on and it had so much punch, but im just lookin for a p bass other than a fender one cuz i just want to get a cheap one and make it my own, instead of like a fender, so im tryin to find a good low name brand that makes em, i was lookin at the ones on that rondomusic site and i saw the jazz basses with the quilt maple andi was hopin they had a p bass with quilt maple but they barely had any p basses at all, ifi had the money i would just make my own custom bass but "i aint got that kind of cheddar to be droppin on my squeeze"
SX doesn't make a p bass with a photoquilt top. Buying a squier is really no different than a fender. I'd still look out for some peavey fury's. Or why not just go buy another samick p bass?
For less than $150 you can get a used Peavey Fury. They were made in the USA and are of reasonably high quality. They sound like a P-Bass, IMO, and have very good playability.
It has a Jazz style neck, though, so it's a bad choice if you want the thicker Fender P-Bass style neck.

Yep, 2 pickguard screws will do the trick. I know from experience.
And remember, used, yard sales, TB Classifieds, Craigslist, etc. are you friend! I have about $180 put into this bass, including a set of Sadowsky flats from the TB Classifieds, and all the visual upgrades.

Yea i agree. Yes its got 22 frets. Music go round has an older samick p/j bass that looks pretty nice, but I don't know if you want a straight up p bass or if a p/j matters.
