P Bass (MIM) Bridge Off?

Hey folks.

I’m wondering if anyone can tell me whether the bridge position on my bass is incorrect? The reason I ask is because it looks like the space between the low E and the top edge of the neck is too great and the fact the strings don’t cross over the pickup pole pieces dead centre. I bought and fitted the Fender high mass bridge myself and used the factory drilled holes, but it’s the same when I use the stock bridge too.

Any insight here would be appreciated, and here’s hoping I’ve not got a poorly constructed instrument! Cheers.

Cheers for the feedback, guys! Yeah, it’s a DiMarzio Model P, although I’ve got a Seymour Duncan Quarterpounder on the way as I’m finding the current pickup a tad too bright and somewhat lacking in the lower frequencies.

I think when the pickup arrives I’ll have my tech guy install it and do a whole setup, including readjusting the neck and see if it can line up a little better. Playability is totally fine and it’s not causing me any issues as far as that’s concerned, but I do wonder if it’s affecting the signal.
