P bass pickups with jazz control plate?

If I have a jazz bass control plate, is there a way I can install a p bass pickup onto it? If so how?

P: VT-jack.

Ahh... your talking about a pickguard, not a control plate, right?

If its a pickguard, that's totally possible, but your going to have a big hole where the Jazz pickup was on one side, because the P pickup is down lower on that side.

The easiest way is to just order a pickguard from Warmoth:

The solution would be to make a cardboard template, check it fits then cut your own hybrid precision/jazz plate out of sheet metal or plastic.

You could buy one of the old '62 stack knob Jazz control plates. Those only have two holes for pots and would allow you to do the vol/tone config without leaving anything open.

Assuming I understand correctly what you're trying to do.
