P/J series/parallel wiring?

I just finished wiring my P/J bass with a series/parallel switch. I wired it up according to the Seymour Duncan Jazz series/parallel diagram. With the switch down everything works as usual. Switch up and there's no noticeable difference when both pups are on. Pan to the bridge pup and nothing as expected. Pan to the P neck pup and it's a bigger tone than normal.

When I solo the P and toggle the switch it goes from normal P to bigger P I think.

Any idea what I did wrong? I've checked and rechecked the connections and they are just like the diagram.

Try making your own wiring diagram and understanding what's really happening. It's very helpful and not so hard with some research. A volume pot shunts some of the signal to ground, so you get less output. Look for where the ground connections are for a clue on what's happening.

I wired a J bass with a series parallel 3 way switch and blend. Also master volume and tone which are independent. In series the blend knob does nothing. In parallel the blend is a normal blend. The middle position is one pickup full on always and the other one blended in by the blend pot. I could.look up the thread with the wiring if you want.... just saying there's multiple ways to wire it depending on the functionality you want. Two volumes doesn't sound very convenient.

Thanks! I'm going to test out my current wiring at rehearsal tonight. I had hoped that I could switch between parallel and series with the belnd knob in the middle, but that might not be possible with my preamp. I have an Audere preamp in the bass and each pickup connects to a different wire. I don't know if that matters, though.
