P/J Volume

I have a Squier MB-4 P/J style (V/B/T controls) that I replaced the original pickups with GFS P and J. The P is wound to 16K and the J bridge is 10K. My problem is when the blend pot is centered the output (volume) is way lower that the respective volume when the pickups are on at 100% each on the blend pot. Each pickup sounds great when in this position. I would like to have the blend of the 2 pickups give some output. Any suggestions?

After doing some looking around on TalkBass, I found out what might be the problem. It looks like Squier installed a balance pot. The markings on it said A500K. The thread I found said an MN500K dual gang MN taper would work correctly in the center detent position and give 100% on both pickups. I went ahead and ordered 2 MN500K blend pots. I will check back and let you all know the outcome.
