PA and amps

I usually play without PA support for my sound - when my group has to haul its own sound, we use a small rig with no subs. That's just my situation. At some shows with a strong house system, I still get plenty of confidence from being able to turn around and tweak what I'm hearing from myself. Plus, my drummer also depends on the positioning and volume of my rig on stage to be able to hear me well and keep us clicking together. He sings a lot and needs to hear himself through his monitor along with the other two of us doing vocals. If he had much more coming through that wedge, it would probably be too much.
