Double Bass Pain in left foot

Has anyone else experienced pain in the left foot from resting it on the rung of a stool for long periods of time? I looked up the condition and what I am experiencing appears to be symptoms of Plantar fasciitis, an inflammation of the tendon of the bottom of the foot. Anyone else had this problem?
Thanks,
GT

I've been laid up for weeks w/a neuroma- a pinched nerve in the ball of the foot(my left, coincidentally). It was initially diagnosed as *possibly* being PF but that was a general practicioner's(sp?)opinion. A proper podiatrist told me about the neuroma thing- and I'm certain it's not from using a stool w/the DB- I just thought I'd mention my experience. The podi gave me a painful ijection of hydrocortizone, and unfortunately I am seeing little if any difference(it's been over a week).
I sympathize w/anyone having foot issues- it's fairly difficult to do much w/o using them. :atoz:

Some folks use a little stool, such as a guitar stool or a yoga block, to rest their foot. This spreads out the weight/ sq.inch upon the bottom of your foot.

I use a chair and rest the weight of the bass on the corner of the seat and either place my foot on the cushion or if there is a rung on the chair at the same level as my stool, I'll place my foot so it is resting on both rungs.

I started with a telephone book then made myself a hollow wooden block, slightly higher. Anything to avoid using the rung on my stool that twisted my spine out of alignment with my pelvis for long periods of time.

I try not to sit right back on my stool and to keep my pelvis level. Having the left foot out as far in front as the other on a stand/block is better for circulation, posture and comfort IMO.

Besides, I am not very tall !!

yah I'm a short dude too, i did get a little foot stool and it helps to distribute weight (obliviously the problem is being caused a a concentration of weight and force on a small area of the foot) but carrying all that around is a problem. I think I'll try to make some kind of permanent fixture on my stool and report back, meanwhile if anyone hears of a portable stool which s a solution with more surface area for a footrest, I will appreciate it greatly. I have searched on the web but haven't found anything.

David, thanks greatly! "Having the left foot out as far in front as the other on a stand/block is better " I had stool to the side but putting it out front opened up some new possibilities, one is standing with left foot on stool so that bass weight is on left leg rather than torso or left hand, I always had navigation problems standing but this resolves it. Maybe I'll have to start carrying the small foot stool as well (sigh) it is a folding one about 9" high
