I'm into cars and I don't know what you're referencing. *shrug* Auction cars often have grease pen writing on the windshield, but the dealer wouldn't want that writing left there for buyers to ask about.

What paint dots? Enquiring minds want to know.

My son is a car salesman, actually just recently moved up from used to new sales. The dots ARE a marker, which varies by dealership - gives the salesperson an idea of how far they can go in negotiating the price. So, indirectly it might indicate how long it's been there,etc.

Having been a car salesperson, they are markers. They are usually used by the dealerships paint and body work people to mark the cars they have looked at. Different colors have different meanings for each dealer. One color for touch up paint, one for minor repairs (small fender cracks and such), and another for more expensive body work ( dents, rust repairs, etc.)
