Painted Gallien-Krueger Grill Photos.

I did not paint mine but I have vintage fender style grill cloth over mine. The guy who owned my cab was the one who did the job, personally I like it. Funny you should mention this...there is a GK neo 412 on ebay right now that is completely spray painted black:rollno: I also think there is a 410 on there with the grill painted gold.

This is likely to become the newest TB fad... :smug:

I recently picked up a couple spray cans of gloss black Krylon - to follow in the footsteps of Chef, who painted the grills of his two GK Neo 11-II cabs black.

Powdercoating probably would be superior to paint. But I also made sure to pick up a spray can of heavy-duty spray metal primer, so that should do the trick.

Now to find someone who can do the job for me. We NYC apartment-dwellers tend not to have back yards or garages where we can work on our little home improvement projects... :hmm:

I just used road marking spray paint on my Laney 4x10 grill, I fully expected to come off in a shower of dust with my 1st Low E but its been 2 months now, and it still looks good as new. Can't post a pic from work, but will add when I get home.

I painted my GK cab grilles last weekend a day before a gig.
All the members in my band asked me if I got new cabs and commented on how much better they looked black. And They Absolutelly do look 100 times better in my opinion.

Here is what they (other one is at practice) looks like now

Okay, this thread is proof that there are few original ideas in the world, eh? ;-) I have been eyeing the new GK stuff, and while it is super cool looking as-is, for me I was thinking that I'd paint the grille black if I got one. Clearly lots of people think like that. Thanks all who posted pictures--I would definitely paint it.

But I wanted to chime in to respond to the suggestion of Krylon. I have painted a bunch of metal (and some wood) with the Krylon outdoor hammered finish, and I think that would work great. It's tough as nails and probably 10x more cost effective than powdercoating. I didn't expect much from the first application of this paint, but the hammered metal results are really quite stunning.

The contrast of the grille is a cool look, too, so don't think I'm putting down the stock look. But you guys who painted the grille made a nice improvement in my book.

And I can highly recommend the Krylon; it seems perfect for this application.

Hmm, I wish I wouldve known about that before I did mine.

I personally just painted over them and then put a clear coat over them.

But I must say im kind of anticipating any chipping or scratching. I think will add flavor to the cabs and give them a worn look from constant moving and touring around.

Plus its easy to repaint them.

But if I ever get another GK cab I may just try that stuff you posted.

I used flat black Krylon on my GK 212 Neo grills. I hung them on a coat hanger for painting on my porch. I didn't prime them, just wiped them down clean first. I figured they would be easy enough to re-paint if required. I plan to stencil on a design, but I haven't gotten to it yet.
