Painted Pickguard

I have just ordered a new bass, a MIM Fender Jazz V. My first "good" bass, certainly a step above the Squier P Bass i have been using as my "just learning" instrument. Anyway, it's white with a white pickguard, which i think is a bit boring. I was thinking perhaps taking it to a professional painter and having the pickguard painted black, as you can't buy pickguards for the 5 string version of the jazz, only the 4. Would this be a good idea, I'm open to suggestions. Would it still have the same finish and would it be too prone to scratches? It hasn't arrived yet, I figure I will spend all week standing outside my house waiting anxiously, because everyone knows; things always go faster when you're watching for them.

I think the white body with the white pickguard will look stunning!

Most people with white Fenders have black or tortoiseshell pickguards, why not be proud of it as it is and appreciate it looks different from the rest of the crowd?

I'm sure once you see it you will love the look of it as it is!:hyper:

Trust me, time will go quicker if you don't keep watching for the mail man! I'm waiting for my Sandberg California JM4 Supreme to arrive (12-14 week delivery) and am only on week 4! :crying:

Ah that was just my sarcasm, I'm always being told things like "If you keep watching that kettle it will never boil." The reason I chose white was because all the other choices sucked, I would have really liked a nice natural coloured body like walnut or something. But yeah, as soon as i thought white I thought either tortoise shell or black pickguard, so maybe you're right. Ah I can't beleive I'm going to own a real Fender, not a knockoff; even if it isn't made in the US.

my brother's got a mex jazz and it looks and sounds great.he's always customizing in one way or another.i've got a usa jazz(chrome red with black scratch plate)decided to paint a red celtic design on my scratch plate using oils and it looked good.then gave the sheet metal worker at work the plate and asked him to make it in steel;and thats now on me jazz.he cut using a laser machine and it was 99% right.could of brought one but where's the challenge in that?
