Which metroline are you looking at? 4 string? 5 string? Modern? I had a black Modern, singlecut 5-string. It was light at right around 8 lbs, but had to be worn on a strap, it slid if you sat down with it. There tend to be a number of metroline basses used, nothing that meets what you're looking for? Have you looked into Sandberg basses? They have the super light series.

In general, all other things being equal, refinishes will almost always sell for less than all-original basses of the same kind, no matter how professionally done.
It will hurt the price of high-cost, highly sought-after basses proportionally more than cheap basses. In other words, people care less about a refinish on a $250 used Squier than a $10,000 refinished Pre-CBS Fender. The refinish on a Pre-CBS Fender will take a much bigger hit in resale value. Where a Sadowsky MetroLine falls on that spectrum i don't know.
All that said, i'm kinda of the opinion of, who cares? Are you buying the bass to sell it? Or are you buying the bass to make music with it? If you want the bass and you want it a different color, get it and and have it painted and enjoy it. It's a musical instrument, not an appreciating asset class. The value of a bass isn't the dollar amount you can sell it for; the value of a bass is the music you make with it.

I would prefer a Sandberg but nothing to be found. 8 pounds is to heavy im looking under 7 pounds. I have a Rare metroline modern special only 67 made but I cant get use to it. Im a P bass guy for 40 years.

TO your point, I was worried about value loss, but, after a fashion, he does all Kubicki rehabs these days (and, as far as I can tell, about 70% of all rehab re-paints in North America). I assume the repaint...was as not going to be on top of the previous.
As is pretty clear in my avatar I like color schemes outside the box. And people seem to have a love/hate feeling about that. That's ok.
It's your bass, paint it the way you want and you'll enjoy it more. If it's a pro job I don't see how you can go wrong.

Thanks Mark, appreciate it. The tie to my kids who painted them makes them extra special to me.
But not everyone feels that way, seems you have to qualify that sometimes.
You could probably get it vinyl wrapped in black. That way it should be removable if you end up getting rid of it. You can always have it painted later on if its a keeper.

I'd have a hard time spending what a metroline sells for ($3500?) and then spending cash for a rifinish. Why not just buy a black metroline? Otr contact sadowsky and get a custom color. If I was a buyer down the road, I'd question the authenticity of a non standard color on a bass of that quality.
