Buff how?If it's the same manufacturer and they are compatible, you can just spray gloss right over semi-gloss. You can also usually buff up semi-gloss and get a gloss finish as well.![]()

Hi there, first of all thank you!! I did not have any build up issues. I filled the tuner holes with tape to avoid any build up. The process was frustrating and harder than I would have thought but it was a fun experience. Good luck and be sure to post photos!I just swapped out the neck on my Musicmaster because 1)I loved the thin profile and 2)loved the maple fretboard.
Now I'm thinking about painting the headstock so there was alot of good info here. Thanks for the inadvertent assist.

Can I ask one question on this zombie thread, did you have any build up issues with the clear coat when you tried to put the tuners back in?
