Pairing a Squier Bronco with a SD rail

I know many out there have upgraded the stock PU to a SD rail type one. I've already installed one on mine but seem to get unwanted noise. I have what I can only describe as scratchy pots as well so I'm looking to totally redo the wiring and do some serious shielding. I'm going to finally get me a soldering tool and try it out. I'm looking for examples of what has been known to work really well based on your guy's experience with this particular PU.

Currently I have a DiMarzio BC-2 Billy Corgan rail strat pickup on my Bronco.

My luthier tech did the soldering and wiring. Didn't change anything else.

Zero noise, zero scratchiness......no problems at all......

250k or 500k pots? Any shielding done?

500k and a 47 cap, no shielding, no noise, the joy of the Bronco is that all the electrics are on the scratchplate, so it's an easy job to remove the plate flip it on your work surface and go at it. If it is your fist go, take a photo of the original wiring and replicate with the new stuff, I did have to enlarge the holes for the pots as the originals were the small type.

I put a cheapy $12 dollar rail pickup from amazon in mine sounds killer but it needs shielding.

Forgot to mention, you will probably have to slightly reshape the corners of the pickup hole on the scratchplate as a SC sized rail pup is slightly squarer than a standard SC, a bit of sandpaer wrapped round a pencil will do it, its only a small amount needed to be removed....
