Double Bass palatino, or stagg?

If you want some acoustic tone for practicing and want to do several modifications for electric playing, the Palatino. If you are happy practicing with headphones and don't need an acoustic sound with only a few little modifications, the Stagg. Be sure to get one with a good plan fingerboard or you get buzzes with low action.
Plan a better set of strings into your calculation. Probably Spirocore Weich or Obligato.
You know that this is the lower end of the EUB price range. Good EUBs are at least twice as expensive, so expect some limits.

While I've never played a Palatino, I bought a Stagg electric upright a few months ago and I am very happy with it. I've used it on several three-piece jazz standard gigs and it definately provides an upright bass vibe.
It doesn't sound exactly like an acoustic upright bass, but it has much more of an upright tone than an electric bass tone. I record nearly all of our gigs on a Zoom H2, so I have been able to compare gigs where I used an electric bass and the Stagg.
After I purchased the bass, I immediately bought a Stagg stand. The bass falls over easily if leaned against anything, so its either laying flat or in its stand when not being played.
I wouldn't hesitate for a moment on buying a Stagg for a first electric upright. I'm hoping to get a few years service out of mine before moving to a better one.

I'm not sure if DoubleMIDI is primarily a DB or BG player but that makes a big difference. It seems like most EUB players came from BG so I assume DoubleMIDI is coming from BG.
Did you get one?
I was looking at a Stagg but the tuners were so cheap I backed out.
