Paramore Bass/Drums

Hey Justin! I know the new Paramore has been touched on here before, but I'd love to get a little insight into the process for establishing some of the grooves on AL. Were you and Zac working together extensively on that by yourselves, or was it approached more from a band-in-the-room perspective? I absolutely adore how the bass and kick syncopate with Hayley's vocals throughout the whole album...it's incredible powerful. Also very curious if you mostly use a pick in the studio, or if you primarily play with fingers. Apologies if you'd addressed this a million times, just thought I'd ask instead of hunt through hundreds of posts!

Huge fan of your work!

Thanks much for the nice thoughts about the work on After Laughter.

This was very much a band-in-room thing. There was a healthy amount of pre-production in which Zac and I worked out the drum and bass relationship prior to going in.

Pick and fingers, mixed.

This album was made in a very old-school fashion. People playing together, listening carefully, and getting it right.
