Here’s a bass I put together to try something a little different. Basically a standard P bass with a G&L MFD pickup in the “Kiloton/L-1500/Stingray” position. Set up with volume and tone controls as well as a 3 way mini switch for pickup selection and a 2 way mini switch to switch the MFD between single coil and series mode. The p pickup is a Seymour Duncan SPB-3.
The body is a Fender MIM player series that was originally sunburst and had a bad rout for a second P pickup. I filled that with a piece of maple and routed for the MFD pickup. It isn’t perfect. You can see the outline of the maple block a bit where my wood filler shrunk. It has been refinished (by me) with a product called Duracoat, which is a type of epoxy/paint. The color is called “Grey Sabbath” and reminds me of charcoal frost. Again, the finish isn’t perfect.
The neck is an unbranded Chinese P style neck. Blocks and binding and what appears to be a rosewood fretboard but I’m not entirely sure. It has a vintage tint on the back but not on the front of the headstock as it was sanded down before I got it. I put the custom waterslide decal on it and clear coated it. Tuners are from an older Yamaha. The frets have also been leveled and crowned (by me). Plays nice and the truss rod works as it should. Adjusts at the heel, so I routed an access at the body to adjust it.
Currently set up with DR Pure Blues 40-100.
Does not included a case or bag but will be packed very well. I would like to ship with the neck removed from the body, if you have any issues with this please let me know and maybe we can work something out.
For trade interests I would be interested in a short scale bass, relic P Bass body (MJT etc) or possibly a nice preamp pedal. Possibly other stuff too, just message me with an offer.
