Passive Bartolini pick ups for Epiphone flying V and Explorer basses.

Have any of you swapped out the stock pups for Bart's? Trying to avoid cutting as much as I can. Were you happy with the results? Any and all ideas, options are considered. They are sentimental favorites and would love to upgrade them. I retro-fitted the V with an aluminum bridge (replaced that 3 piece fiasco which I hated and honestly made a noticeable difference in the sustain.) I play through an Ampeg tube (CL-300, VT 22) or Ampeg SS Portaflex 800, Ampeg 450) I play blues/ rock (think Govt. Mule) with occasional Entwistle songs which I fumble through to the best of my ability. How much of a difference will a good set of passive pups make on this mod? I'm staying positive.....HELP!!
